Our Facade BIM Workflow

Project Setup & Data Integration

  • Import architectural drawings, point clouds (for existing buildings), and facade design sketches into Revit.
  • Establish shared coordinates and worksets for collaborative modeling.
  • Define levels, grids, and alignment with structural and MEP models.

Parametric 3D Facade Modeling in Revit

  • Create intelligent facade elements using Revit curtain walls, panels, mullions, and adaptive components.
  • Develop custom parametric families for:
    • Curtain wall systems (stick-built, unitized, panelized)
    • Cladding materials (glass, metal, stone, precast concrete)
    • Louvers, sunshades, perforated screens
    • Windows, doors, and facade-integrated systems
  • Apply material specifications and performance data (thermal properties, reflectivity, etc.).

Structural & MEP Coordination

  • Ensure proper integration between facade elements and structural framing (anchoring, brackets, embeds).
  • Coordinate with MEP teams to accommodate:
    • HVAC penetrations (louvers, vents, ducts).
    • Facade lighting systems (LED strips, sensors, smart glass).
    • Rainwater drainage and waterproofing details.
  • Conduct clash detection using Navisworks to resolve conflicts before fabrication.

Construction-Ready 2D Documentation

  • Extract detailed 2D shop drawings and fabrication details from the BIM model, including:
    • Facade Elevations – Detailed representation of facade materials and components.
    • Panel Layout Drawings – Numbering, sequencing, and connection details.
    • Mullion & Bracket Details – Profiles, section cuts, and fixing arrangements.
    • Glazing & Cladding Details – Material dimensions, installation guides.
    • Schedules & Quantity Take-offs – BOQ for panels, fasteners, sealants, etc.
