Fast-Track Delivery
Speed is the currency of Formula 1. Not just on the track, but in the construction schedule. When Qatar secured its 10-year deal to host F1, the deadline for the Lusail International Circuit upgrade wasn’t negotiable.
BIM DESIGN LLC was engaged to provide critical digital engineering support for the paddock renovation and track facilities. The challenge? Retrofitting a 20-year-old circuit with 2024 state-of-the-art hospitality and technical infrastructure in a window of just 9 months.

The “Fast-Track” BIM Strategy
In a project where construction begins before design is 100% complete, traditional coordination methods fail. We implemented a “24/7 Digital Studio” model, cycling data between our teams to ensure the site had approved shop drawings every morning.
⏱ The Timeline
2 years of construction work compressed into 9 months. Any error in the foundation data would result in missing the Race Day deadline.
📐 The Solution
4D BIM Scheduling. We linked the 3D models to the P6 schedule, allowing the client to visualize the “Critical Path” on a daily basis.
Technical Engineering
The upgrades included new Paddock Club hospitality suites, team garages, and medical centers. Each of these zones required dense MEP integration.
1. 4D Logistics Sequencing
With thousands of workers and hundreds of cranes operating in a confined “island” site, logistics were the biggest risk. Our 4D models simulated crane swings and material laydown areas, preventing site bottlenecks that could cost days of delay.
2. FIA Compliance Validation
We used laser scanning to verify the “as-built” conditions of the track kerbs and barriers against the strict FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) safety models. This ensured that the circuit passed homologation on the first inspection.
